150 Words: Guest Blogger - Anon, THE PARADOX
“Our lives are being squished and squashed, and moulded to shoulder the responsibility of maintaining the wealth of the already wealthy.” Try to re-imagine your purchases this way : THE SQUISH - a child's understanding of needs and wants is garnered from their immediate world; THEY SQUASH- parents are squashed into a corner, they lose dollars and gain products; THE MOULDING - people at the top of the selling chain decide what others want and need; from production to sales, workers are paid for their contribution to the sale. THE PARADOX - (SALES - ALL COSTS) = left over cash; this cash is used to produce more cash for shareholders, directors and owners, whose goal is to think up more 'things' that children can be influenced to buy.
